About Thorvin Vear

Members

Thorvin Vear is a solo musical project. Thorvin writes the music and the lyrics. The music is made with sequencers and various machines then growls and mixes the whole himself.

Musical genre

The goal of this project is to explore the Industrial, Electronic and Darkwave genres. Metal and classical music being an important part of Thorvin's musical background, his music will always be more or less tainted of these.

Goals

The reason this project exists is creation. Thorvin Vear is a will to innovate and to offer to the listener original, unique music. Thorvin Vear also wants to shock, using dark, troubling, taboo or revolutionary themes.

History

1998 - The beginning

Thorvin starts playing guitar and writing music with a MIDI sequencer.

2001 - Aegrimonia

Thorvin gathered a few people and forms a melodic blackmetal band named Aegrimonia. The band didn't do so well so, Thorvin decided to work alone.

2003 - Oubli

"Thorvin Vear" came to life. Many songs were written and recorded, most of them were to appear on the 1st album, "Oubli".

2004 - The Project

Four very electronic tracks were recorded and were grouped together to form "The Drone Project".

The work on Oubli remained incomplete because of a lack of time.

2005 - Fjord

Thorvin joined a new black/death metal band named Fjord.

2006 - Back to Oubli

Despite promising songs, Fjord is disbanded due to personal problems between the members. These events motivated Thorvin to work alone even more and he resumed his work on Oubli. A few tracks are re-recorded and the whole thing is remixed. The album is released November 11th.

Meanwhile, Thorvin records several new songs that have a slightly different sound. They were shelved for a future release that should be named "Vénus Vétuste".

2007 - Present

Thorvin decided to release "The Drone Project". He added 5 tracks that he had recorded for other purposes from 2004 to 2005, making The Drone Project a 29 minutes mini CD with no lyrics. It was supposed to be released like that but Thorvin tought that the concept wasn't fully exploited, so he recorded new tracks and wrote lyrics for more than half the tracks. Drone became a full lenght CD, thus delaying the release of "Vénus Vétuste".

The drone project is cancelled. It just doesn't live up to Thorvin's expectations.
